"Where Tubing the Salt Begins"
Starting Summer 2014, Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch is creating a new tubing experience on the Salt River. We want to provide a fun, refreshing, and scenic float that families and outdoor lovers can enjoy in the beauty of the Sonoran Desert. Our customers will have the exclusive opportunity to float on the pristine first 1.5 miles of the Lower Salt River. We are not catering to the “party” that is often found downriver and will strive to offer a differentiated experience that we can all be proud of.
Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch tubing trips start at the top of the river at the ranch’s launching site. Because this is where the water is released from Stewart Mountain Dam’s turbine it is clean and cool and is the most serene and unspoiled part of the Salt River. Ranch customers park and check in at our office for their day adventure. We offer two tubing trips: Our most popular is to the Blue Point Bridge exit at Sheep’s Crossing (approximately 2.5 to 3 hrs) where you float under the bridge and exit on the left hand side of the river at the sandy beach area below Blue Point cliffs. There is a well marked sign indicating Sheep’s Crossing with exit to the parking lot and restrooms. We pick you up in an air conditioned van with trailer to bring you back to the ranch. Our second trip is the short 45 minute float to Horse Thief’s Wash. This float is popular for those who never want to enter the public recreation area and who enjoy walking (exercising) back to the ranch. (10 minutes) These customers can do this float several times and rest, relax, and enjoy the shade trees on our BIG River Lawn.
Bringing your own alcohol onto our launching site is prohibited by Arizona State liquor law regulating its licensees. Glass containers of any kind are also prohibited per Tonto National Forest regulations.
